Maxine B. Schulze Driver, 77, of Chattanooga, died on Thursday, July 24, 2008.

She was born July 21, 1931 in Groveton, Tx., and attended elementary school in Apple Springs, Tx., and middle and high school in Groveton. She also attended Stephen F. Austin University.

She lived in Houston until May, 1984, and had worked as executive secretary for American Republic and Sinclair for ten years, and as secretary at Wilchester Elementary School from 1970–1978. She retired from Texas Instruments in 1981 and then moved to California with her family.

She lived in San Jose, Ca., from May, 1984 through December, 1993, and moved to Chattanooga in January of 1994.

She currently attended East Brainerd Church of Christ and was a homemaker.

Her father, Coleman Balch and sister, Martha Joe Hurst, preceded her in death.

She is survived by her husband of 27 years, B. Kenneth Driver; daughters and sons-in-law, Pamela and Curtis Watson of Chattanooga; Carey and Matthew Lane; granddaughter, Katelyn Noel Lane all of Lawrenceville, Ga.; mother, Carrie Bell Balch of Chattanooga; brother-in-law, Tommy Hurst; aunt, Mary Lee Taylor both of Lufkin, Tx.; and many treasured nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. in the East Brainerd Chapel with Steve Jett officiating. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Saturday from 5-8 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service at the East Brainerd Chapel of Chattanooga Funeral Home, Crematory and Florist, 8214 East Brainerd Road, Chattanooga, Tn.
