SFC Timothy Lynn Spangler, US Army (Ret.) 66, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, died on Sunday, March 8, 2020.

 

The son of the late Charles Franklin & Marjorie Elizabeth Fawks Spangler, he was a longtime farmer and land conservationist. He served honorably with the United States Army with 27 years 7 months total service. He served on the Pennsylvania Angus Association Board of Directors, as well as the Board of Directors of the Somerset County, (PA) Beef Producers, and was a member of the Somerset County, (PA) Junior Livestock Sale Committee. He had been a member of the Mt. Laurel UCC, Gray PA, where he served on the church council as President, and was currently a member of the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, Jasper, TN.  He was also a proud endowment member of the National Rifle Association. He was a man of integrity and respect.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles F. Spangler, Jr. and John Allen Spangler.

 

He is survived by his wife of almost 44 years, Debbie Coughenour Spangler; sons, Kevin R. Spangler, Sr. of Salisbury, Pennsylvania and Jonathan C. Spangler of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; grandchildren, Adrianna Lynn Spangler, Kevin R. Spangler, Jr., Lillian Mae Spangler, Gabrial William Spangler, Chloe Hilda Spangler, and Emily Marie Spangler; sister, Mrs. Mary E. Wright of Norman, Oklahoma; aunt, Mrs. Jane Fawks of Elyria, Ohio; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

 

The family will receive friends for visitation at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Saturday, March 14, from 4–7 p.m. Central time.

 

Funeral services will be held at the South Pittsburg Chapel of Rogers Funeral Home on Sunday, March 15, at 2 p.m. Central time with Reverend Cecil Baxter officiating.

 

A visitation and funeral service will also be held in Boswell, Pa. on Wednesday, March 18.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church, 172 Pleasant Grove Road, Jasper, TN 37347 or to the Somerset County Jr Livestock Sale Scholarship, c/o Doreen Jamison, 418 S. Pike View Road, Berlin, PA 15530.
