James Lewis
James M. Lewis, Jr. "Jim", 78, of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, passed in the early hours of June 1, 2022.
Jim was born in Chattanooga, and raised in South Pittsburg. He was a graduate of South Pittsburg High School, University of Tennessee, and Samford University.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Morgan Lewis, Sr., and Margaret Anderson Lewis, and infant son James Anderson Lewis.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Stephanie Maughan Lewis and sons, Scott (Suzanne) of Kimball, Tennessee, Ryan (Beth) of South Pittsburg, Tennessee, Brett (Jill) Lewis of Elizabethton, Tennessee, and Cooper Lewis of South Pittsburg, Tennessee; sister Lynn (Dexter) Tuck of South Pittsburg, Tennessee. His grandchildren are Jackson Lewis, Michael Lewis, Brady Lewis, Callie Lewis, Myles Lewis, and Taylor Grindstaff (Steven). He influenced several generations of young people by coaching and transporting them to games and events throughout Tennessee.
Jim was chief executive officer of Lewis Pharmaceutical Information, Inc. and a practicing pharmacist of more than 50 years. He dedicated his professional interest to managing the safest possible patient care. He served as Tennessee state senator for two terms (1986 - 1990), with a focus on improving the livelihoods of his constituents in the 13th Senatorial District. Jim also served as South Pittsburg Fire and Police Commissioner from 1972-1979.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, June 9, from 4-8 p.m. (CST) at Rogers Funeral Home of South Pittsburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the organization of choice or South Pittsburg High School Academics (Attn: HS Principal).
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the family prefers that attendees of the visitation wear masks.
